China logged a record daily output of crude steel in August as the country's economic recovery consolidates, industry data showed.

For the period, the major providers included China, India, Japan and South Korea, according to the Vietnam Steel Association.

Crude steel production fell 1.6% to 113,033 tons in August from a year earlier, but 4.1% more than 108,498 tons in July, according to data released by the Colombian Steel Producers Commission.

The rise in steel output was mostly due to increased demand, thanks to China's strong economic recovery.

In September, the sub-index for production stood at 54, up 0.5 points month on month, while that for new orders rose 0.8 points to 52.8.

Yinchuan tops the comprehensive score chart, while Linfen remains last.
