In a significant move towards sustainability, SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp. is embarking on a green initiative to reduce carbon emissions at its Bulacan facility. The company anticipates an annual reduction of 2.3 million kilograms of carbon dioxide through the implementation of a solar project.
 
SteelAsia, a prominent player in the steel industry with six plants across the Philippines, is actively committed to environmental responsibility. The latest development involves a partnership with global multi-energy company TotalEnergies, resulting in a 1.9-megawatt solar rooftop project at the Meycauayan facility.
 
Highlighting their dedication to eco-friendly practices, SteelAsia reveals that approximately 80% of its energy requirements are sourced from geothermal power. This commitment extends to the use of green manufacturing technologies at its plants in Davao and Cebu.
 
Simultaneously, the company has invested in automated furnaces designed to minimize emissions and ensure optimal burning. This strategic move not only contributes to environmental conservation but also leads to significant fuel savings, with a reported reduction of up to 30% compared to traditional furnaces.
 
As part of its ongoing efforts, SteelAsia is actively constructing the country's first section mill in Lemery, Batangas. This facility is set to produce H-beams and large angle bars crucial for infrastructure and cell towers.
