【Ferro-alloys.com】: China's East Hope Group could build an alumina refinery with capacity of 2 million tonnes per year and a smelter capable of producing 1 million tonnes of aluminum per year in Kazakhstan.
East Hope Group wants to build a fully integrated, state of the art environmentally friendly mining, smelting, and fabrication complex powered by renewable energy, the Kazakh government's press office said following talks between Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and East Hope CEO Liu Yongxing.
Bektenov asked the relevant ministries to give their backing to the project.
The national Kazakh Invest company said on Telegram that a frame agreement on a $12 billion base metals project, including 3 GW of wind and other generating capacity, was signed in February 2025.
