Subhrakant Panda, Managing Director of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA) expects ferrochrome prices to increase by ?3,000 to ?4,000 per tonne in the first quarter (April-June).

Ferro chrome imports in Japan decreased 11% y-o-y to 550,415 t in CY'23 as against 617,139 t in CY'22.

Chrome producer Merafe has reported that its attributable ferrochrome production from the Glencore Merafe Chrome Venture in the fourth quarter ended December 31 was 75 000 t, compared with the 97 000 t produced in the fourth quarter of 2022.

From January to October 2023, the production of high-carbon ferrochrome in Inner Mongolia increased by 777,600 tons year-on-year to 3,698,300 tons, accounted for 61.2% of the country.
