On September 4, 2024, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) announced its preliminary affirmative determinations in the countervailing duty (CVD) investigations of ferrosilicon from Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia.

Ferro silicon prices in India were INR 88,400/t ($1,053/t) exw-Guwahati, as an assessment on 12 August. Bhutan's prices also fell by INR 1,200/t ($14/t) w-o-w to INR 89,800/t ($1,069/t) exw.

US producers claim that the price spread on ferrosilicon sourced from Russia,Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Brazil is as high as 212%, which is seriously damaging the local industry.

Indian ferro silicon (FeSi:70%) prices remained largely stable, with a minor drop by INR 50/t ($1/t) ex-Guwahati and Bhutan.
